About BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund
BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) is a tokenized US-dollar money-market fund launched by BlackRock in March 2024 in partnership with Securitize, the regulated transfer agent and tokenisation platform. Each BUIDL token represents a share in a fund that invests in cash, US Treasury bills, and repurchase agreements, with the goal of preserving capital and generating yield in line with short-duration US government instruments.
BUIDL is structured as a Reg D fund available only to qualified investors through Securitize's onboarding. The token is issued natively on Ethereum and additional public networks, with transfers restricted to whitelisted, KYC-verified addresses. Yield is distributed to holders monthly through additional BUIDL tokens, and the fund publishes daily NAV and holdings data alongside reporting from independent service providers.
BUIDL became one of the largest and most-cited tokenized Treasury products and helped catalyse broader adoption of on-chain real-world assets. It is integrated with crypto-native treasury management and DeFi protocols that accept tokenized Treasuries as backing for stablecoins and structured products, and sits alongside competing offerings from Franklin Templeton, Ondo, Hashnote, and others in the tokenized money-market segment.
